Xiangqi Tournament (part of 11th Nanyang Chess Challenge) Rules & Regulations

Tournament Objective: To promote Xiangqi and Chinese Culture

Competition Details:

Venue: Nanyang Primary School

Report Time: 7:50 am

Competition Time: 8:00 am to 5:30 pm

Tournament System: a) Players will compete in 7 rounds of Swiss format.

Each game, player will get 1 point for a win, 0.5 point for a draw, 0 point for a loss.

The ranking is based on the total points.

If two or more players have the same number of points,

the ranking will be based on the result details of the special rounds between each two players.

For each category, after 7 rounds of competition, a golden award trophy will be awarded to players who get no less than 5.5 points,

a silver award trophy will be awarded to players who get no less than 4.5 points,

a bronze award trophy will be awarded to players who get no less than 3.5 points.

b) Players will be given 10 minutes in chess clock plus 5 seconds per side.

Players who have exceeded their time allocated are deemed to have lost their match.

c) Participants who are late for more than 5 minutes to arrive at their match are deemed to have lost their match.

d) Participants who forfeit a round will be taken out of the tournament.

e) The tournament will be conducted according to the rules laid out by the Asian Xiangqi Federation’s Competition Rules (Latest edition)

f) In the event of any disputes, the arbiter has the right to make final judgement.
